We create a bespoke design package that suits your needs. For a complete garden design transformation we recommend the following services, however you may require individual elements. If you simply require advice about your outdoor space, we also offer a consultation service which is priced at an hourly rate. All stages throughout the process are discussed and agreed with you.
Initial Consultation and The Brief
Every garden design is unique, capturing our clients’ needs, aspirations and personality. Our collaborative approach enables you to bring ideas to the table as we navigate you through the process. We share inspirational images, photos and samples to spark our initial discussion. This will help us create a beautiful garden space that is both practical and tailored to your lifestyle and budget. Following our consultation, we will send you The Design Proposal and Brief with information about our design fees.
Topographical Site Survey and Analysis
We then take accurate measurements of your garden, such as level changes and the position of existing trees and shrubs. We consider views from the house so that we can create focal points with planting, garden structures, water features and sculpture. We assess the structure and pH of your soil to determine which plants will flourish in your garden and if any improvements to the soil and drainage may be required. We consider the aspect of your garden to create a sustainable planting scheme and to position seating areas so that you can enjoy both sun and shade.
Garden Layout Plan and Masterplan
We now begin to design your garden using the measurements and details that we have acquired from the Site Survey and Analysis Report. A Garden Layout Plan provides a simple, scaled and conceptual layout of our proposed design, showing the different areas and elements of the garden and how they correlate. We provide 3D computer aided elevation drawings, 2D and 3D pencil sketches, visual aids and a mood board of the proposed hard landscaping elements. We welcome your ideas, improvements and changes to the design. We create a final detailed Masterplan with specification documents which provide information on construction, materials and other requirements such as bespoke structures, water features and lighting.
Planting Plan
On your approval of the Master Plan, we design the Planting Plan. The Planting Plan is a 2D scaled design indicating the position of existing and proposed new hedges, trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals and bulbs. These are identified with their full Latin names. Using a plant board, we show images of these soft landscaping elements that we hope to introduce into your garden and demonstrate how we have created a rich tapestry of layers, textures and colour to provide year-round interest. A full plant list is provided which includes quantity, pot size, specification and a planting schedule. This list will be sent to reputable trade nurseries to source the relevant plants. Our carefully curated schemes are designed to suit the individual setting and encourage biodiversity to work in harmony with the landscape.
Many clients simply require this part of the process to rejuvenate their borders or they may require planting design inspiration for a newly landscaped garden. We can help with the selection and sourcing of tried and tested plants.
Our work:
- Detailed planting plan to scale.
- Naturalistic planting design with evergreens, perennials, annuals and bulbs.

Tender
Once you have approved the design, BALI or APL registered landscape contractors are invited to tender for the construction of your garden. You may already have your own contractor or we can make recommendations, taking into account the site location and specification. We provide them with all documentation and a schedule of works to ensure an accurate quote.
The tendering landscape contractors will send their quotations to our studio, allowing us to modify the design and adjust the quotation according to your budget, until a price is agreed. The quotes are forwarded onto you so that you can make an informed decision as to which contractor you would like to build your garden.
Construction
Once the contractor is appointed and contracts signed, a start date is agreed to commence the build. We offer a project monitoring service during the construction process.
Planting
After the construction phase is completed, we order and arrange the delivery of plants and trees to the site, setting out the plants in accordance with the planting plan. We often help the landscape contractors to plant out. Specific trees and plants may be sourced and hand tagged by us to ensure the best quality plants are selected.
Aftercare and Maintenance
On completion, we offer quarterly visits to ensure that your new garden is thriving well.
Garden Styling
We are happy to assist with the finishing touches, styling and accessory selection such as furniture and sculpture.
